He graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1988. After completing his compulsary service in Şaphane district, Kütahya, he started his specialization in the department of General Surgery at Faculty of Medicine, Erciyes University in 1991. He became specialist in General Surgery in 1996. He worked as lecturer at university for one year. He started to work at SB Etlik İhtisas Hospital in 1997. He worked in the General Surgery Clinic and in the Transplantation Clinic where kidney transplantation was performed for 11 years. Furthermore, he went to France for training at different times in 2005-2006. He received advanced laparoscopy training.
On October 18, 2007, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor of General Surgery after having successfully passed the associate professorship exam. He has been appointed as the Chief of General Surgery Clinic in Elazig Training and Research Hospital since October 2008. He became a professor of general surgery in 2013. In 2014, he worked in the bariatric and metabolic surgery clinic of New York Weil Cornell Medical College and Lenox Hill Hospital, USA. He has been frequently performing laparoscopic morbid obesity surgeries since 2006
